Sita Ramam (Tamil Review) : A Visual Spectacle

After ages, I have witnessed a movie that may be compared to cult classics like Roja, Alai Payuthey, etc. Every scene was nothing short of a painting with such an aesthetic value. I was just sucked into the world of Ram & Sita and the journey further was nothing short of a spectacle!

Thanks to the director for reminiscing the world of letters & the strong bonds of love that it used to carry and also proving that epic romantic tales can be told so artistically as well.

I think what works for the film beyond the grand scale at which it's mounted is how lovable the central characters are. The chemistry between the central characters sizzle and they both sparkle on screen, so everything around them naturally becomes appealing.

Each frame is like a therapy for sore eyes, such is the brilliant cinematography. There is also a very intelligently woven subplot featuring the fight against Pakistan supported Mujhahideen.

Sita Ramam is not just another love story, it's an emotional, epic and eternal tale of unanswered and unfulfilled love that's sure to last the test of times and leave everyone watching, supremely satisfied.

No love story is complete without soulful music and eternal lyrics which was abundantly present and such perfect rendition of the songs by the music director & singers that all the songs are going to become melodies which has not happened for an Indian movie in a very long time. What a classic feel from the bygone era! All the traditional instruments only were used for composing the songs and it was creating such an impact suiting to the 1960-1980 kind of feel.

One might hear a lot of things about this movie. Definitely it's not a love story in the traditional sense, but just a beautiful story. So I implore anyone who is going to watch this movie to just have that mindset, and you will be satisfied.

The visual beauty itself gives enough reasons to watch it in big screen, all credits to exemplary production design and the cinematography. The locations, set design, costumes, everything felt perfect.

Kuthirai Vaal (Tamil) : My Views (No Spoiler Review)

This is not a review. Just my views and thoughts on how I observed the film. No spoilers.

Magical Realism has finally arrived in Tamil cinema through this film even though it has been there for ages in Tamil literature. Many international filmmakers have tried and succeeded in bringing dreams into visualization in their films. For the first time in Tamil cinema, the filmmakers of this movie have given a surreal experience of bringing dreams into visuals for the audience. Usually it's obvious that it's really challenging to recall our dreams after waking up. But this film brings us a psychedelic trip alongside an immersive experience in watching a wild dream infront of us in live. The plot travels deeply into our subconscious without us noticing it. It's very important to watch the film with patience as we learn how to watch a film in a subtle way. This film will improve the audiences' level of taste and observation. Surely every individual will experience the film in a unique way. Kuthirai Vaal has definitely broken all the stereotypic films that has been releasing in our times. Experience in theatres before it's gone.
